Netflix has shared the first official trailer for the upcoming NBA series, “Starting 5." The series premiers Oct. 9, features Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler and provides a behind-the-scenes look at an interesting and polarizing season.
The 2-minute trailer shows glimpses of Butler’s emo outfit at Heat media day, the filming of his Western-inspired music video with Fall Out Boy and his role in the Heat’s brawl with the New Orleans Pelicans.
Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler's off-the-court activities will be featured in Netflix's new NBA series.
These were the most interesting moments from Butler’s season, which ended prematurely after injuring his knee during the Heat’s game against the Philadelphia 76ers in the play-in tournament. The Heat lost in the first round to the Boston Celtics.
There were some on-court moments worth highlighting: Butler’s game-winner against the Chicago Bulls, his 37-point game against the Utah Jazz, a 30-point, five-assist, four-rebound, four-steal masterclass against the Cleveland Cavaliers, to name a few, but Butler made more headlines off the court that should provide some comedic relief in the series.
Butler joins LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards and Domantas Sabonis as players featured in the 10-episode docuseries.
According to Netflix, “The series captures their battles on and off the court as they chase greatness, push through injuries, and balance the demands of family and legacy. James pushes himself harder than ever to stay healthy - and dominant - in his 21st season, while Edwards electrifies with his rapid rise. Butler’s relentless drive propels the Heat, Sabonis anchors the Kings with his versatile play, and Tatum leads the Celtics in their quest for a record 18th championship. Starting 5 delivers an unfiltered view of life at the pinnacle of professional basketball.”
