There are a lot of ways to describe the Miami Heat’s 2015-16 season so far. Captivating. Exciting. But it has also been…strange.

Heat Nation had no idea what to expect going into this year. With the organization trying to put the immediate past behind them, they went to work during the summer in order to ensure that another disastrous season would not take place. And while they may not have been able to lure LeBron James back (yet…), they certainly took care of business. Between letting fans breathe a much needed sigh of relief as they finally re-signed Dwyane Wade, to hitting the jackpot with draft pick Justise Winslow, and bringing on Gerald Green and Amar’e Stoudemire, Miami was clearly in much better shape.

The Heat still had some kinks to work out, sure. Goran Dragic was not performing as well as predicted, and Hassan Whiteside was acting out again. But they were cruising along. Coming up victorious against expected opponents, and sometimes falling short to the top dogs. The guys were figuring out how to trust one another, as head coach Erik Spoelstra perfected his lineups and president Pat Riley continuously strategized plans for future success.

And then the great Gerald Green debacle occurred. And many were afraid Miami’s season would once again be derailed. Little information was given on what had caused Green to attack a man in his apartment building’s lobby, leaving too much room for speculation. Some said it was drugs. Others that Green had a psychotic break. A handful just wanted him gone.

But the organization handled it, as they always do. Green was suspended for his behavior, and after a few days life went on.

Then, the front office broke everyone’s hearts as they traded Mario ‘Rio’ Chalmers to the Memphis Grizzlies, in an effort to create some luxury tax relief.

And in an even more devastating move (though at least this was somewhat predictable), the Heat then sent Chris ‘Birdman’ Andersen over to join his old friend Rio. Also to make way for additional salaries down the line.

The surprises kept coming too.

Miami signed Joe Johnson, after he was waived by the Brookyln Nets. And because Riley had worked so hard to get his team under the luxury tax line, then went ahead and reached a buyout agreement with Beno Udrih, after it was announced he would have season-ending surgery.

See, strange.

But wait, there seems to be a 6-foot-11 elephant in the room (okay, maybe an ostrich…)

The question of what is happening with Chris Bosh is still a mystery.

Heat Nation did not know it yet, but their biggest fear would once again come to life during NBA All-Star Weekend. While the big man sat out from All-Star festivities due to what was then called a strained hamstring, it was later announced that he was in fact dealing with something related to blood clots.

First the media reported he was going through the same thing he battled just a year ago, until Wade expressed that that was not the case. Then Bosh was said to be back on blood thinners and out for the remainder of the year, which was rebutted by Riley telling the media that the superstar was still consulting with several doctors.

And now, according to Spoelstra, Bosh has been working out with staff.

While the 31-year-old has yet to play in a game since before the All-Star break, both he and people in his circle have kept up a positive front. With his wife posting a family picture during All-Star Weekend, Bosh himself just tweeted that he is feeling “great.”
