The Miami Heat are expected to begin the process to clear Chris Bosh’s contract from the salary cap and create another roster spot. What should they do with this potential resource?

March 1 is here, which is the day the Miami Heat are expected to begin the process of waiving Chris Bosh and clearing his $20-plus million contract from the salary cap. Bosh hasn’t played since Feb. 9 of 2016 and, after having not played for a full calendar year, the Heat are eligible to apply to remove his contract from the cap.

It’s a process that involved the NBA’s player association, the league front office, Bosh and the Heat. If it’s concluded that Bosh cannot play again without a substantial risk to his health, the Heat will be granted the exception.

It’s been reported that Bosh does not plan to play this season, but on TNT Monday night, Bosh said he’s in playing shape and his kids are pressuring him to play again.

If the Heat succeed in clearing Bosh’s roster spot and cap hit, they’ll have an extra roster spot to offer this season. What should they do with that roster spot? Wes Goldberg and David Ramil explore the options on the latest Locked On Heat podcast.
