Raymond Felton, Los Angeles Clippers

Having spent the first nine years of his career as a starter, Felton has transitioned impressively into the role of a backup in recent years. Starting in just 11 of 80 games, Felton averaged 6.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 21.2 minutes per game.

Backing up All-Star point guard Chris Paul, Felton at times demonstrated aspects of his game that have kept him in the league since being selected at No. 5 overall in the 2005 draft. Known primarily for his attacking, drive and dish game, Felton would represent a great compliment and backup to Dragic. He would enable the Heat to be constantly on the attack when Dragic is resting, and hence trying to utilise the Heat’s fondness for the three ball.

Given his limited role with the Clippers, Felton impressed when called upon to fill a larger role in the absence of Paul. His most impressive came during a blowout loss to the Houston Rockets. Coming off the bench, Felton posted 26 points, eight assists and five rebounds in 31 minutes.

The highlights from this game can be seen here:

As can be seen, Felton clearly has a more than suitable skill set to provide the Heat coming off the bench. His ability to both pass and score in a variety of situations would be a welcome addition, albeit as somewhat of an insurance policy.

This season, Felton played for the veterans minimum of $1.5 million. Considering the salary cap restraints they face in re-signing several players, the Heat would similarly hope to sign Felton to the veteran minimum this summer.
