Man, these things are inherently self-aggrandizing and vain, but I feel the need to do it anyway.
I’ll start with some thank you’s. Three, to be exact.
First, I’d like to thank everyone who read All U Can Heat over the last four years. Thanks to your support, AUCH is a thriving site dedicated to covering the Miami Heat for its great fans. There is no other site that does as good a job covering the Heat, and that’s because of all of the writers who have passed through here and still work here.
That is me second thank you. It has been a pleasure to work with the many writers and great talent that have worked at All U Can Heat. Many have used the site as a launching pad to big things while others have remained and continue to bust their butts. It gives them a platform to write about their passion, and be recognized by the readers. To my writers: It has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life to guide you, help you, and watch you grow. I do not take stepping down from this position lightly, and the hardest thing to walk away from was working with each and every one of you.
My third and final thank you is to FanSided, who have given me the autonomy to run All U Can Heat as I saw fit. Four years ago, I was handed the reigns to a site on a little-known network. It’s been an amazing journey to see this site and this network grow, and to ride the wave as long as I have.
It’s not easy to leave, but that’s what I’m doing. As many of you know, I host a podcast called Locked On Heat, a daily podcast covering the Heat. I have fallen in love with the podcasting format, and will be dedicating most of my time to that and the soon-to-be-launched companion website. I will also continue to contribute to FanSided’s premium NBA vertical The Step Back. It’s comforting to know I’m not leaving the FanSided family completely.
Back filling me is someone you already know and love. Allana Tachauer, who has written for All U Can Heat for almost as long as I’ve been managing it, will be taking over. You know her work, and you know her voice. No one has a pulse on what Heat fans want to read more than Allana, and she will do a terrific job leading the site. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished here. Allana, I’m confident, will continue to grow the site in ways that I no longer can. Like the organization it covers, All U Can Heat is fortunate to be able to promote from within. You are in good hands.
The internet is a crowded space, and I never would have been able to break through the noise the little bit that I have without All U Can Heat. My time here is over, but the relationships I’ve made will last forever. There aren’t many opportunities in life to walk away from something under your own power and without any regrets, and I’m fortunate that I can do that now. I’ll turn my attention to other creative efforts and hope you follow me while continuing to support AUCH. Find me on Twitter @wcgoldberg for updates.
I know I said just three thank you’s, but here is one more: For you. Whoever you are. If you’re reading this, this isn’t the first time you have read my work or heard my name. I want to thank you for caring, and for taking the time.
Pat Riley said “Look for your choices, pick the best one, then go with it.” That’s what I’m doing, and I’m excited for what’s next.
