The Miami Heat are trying their best to get in this trade frenzy before the February 7th NBA trade deadline.

Today has been a whirlwind of a day, but the New Orleans Pelicans have taken another step forward in the Anthony Davis one-team bidding war, without the Miami Heat being included (obviously). Brad Turner reported for the LA Times that the Los Angeles Lakers submitted the monster offer the Pelicans were seeking before the Feb. 7th NBA trade deadline.

Lakers receive Anthony Davis, Solomon Hill.

Pelicans receive Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Rajon Rondo, Lance Stephenson, Michael Beasley, and two (now possibly FOUR) future first round picks.

More from All U Can Heat

The trade as constructed above gives the Pelicans everything thing they said they wanted by providing the organization the opportunity to swing for the fences on the possibility that any of the three Lakers kids will become all-NBA performers. Even though the picks won’t be high, they’re still what the Pelicans asked of potential bidders. What’s important to mention here is the salary cap relief they’ll receive by being able to offload the rest of Solomon Hills contract worth another $13.2 million next season.

Let’s say this trade goes through. The Pelicans would then be left with some questions to answer about their roster. They’ve maintained that former all-star point guard Jrue Holiday is not available for trade so we’ll run with that as well.

The question I’d like to pose for Pelicans fans is: would you want to enter a contract year for a budding player so soon after finally putting the Anthony Davis saga behind you?
