With the departure of Juwan Howard to his alma mater, there is a spot open on the Miami Heat bench. Miami Heat nation is probably hoping one of these people fill the seat.
Former Miami Heat assistant coach Juwan Howard accepted a job on Wednesday that will see him coach his alma mater in the Michigan Wolverines. His deal is reportedly “a five-year deal, starting at $2 million annually, with a base salary of $400,000” according to the official Michigan Athletic page or mgoblue.com. With his chair on the Miami Heat bench available, who might the fans like to see fill that spot?
Dwyane Wade
Undeniable enough, it should have been expected that this would be the first name on the list. Miami Heat nation is already in awe of a story of how Dwyane Wade also played mock general manager/scout according to the twitter account of the Miami based Will Manso and team president Pat Riley.
However, It’s hardly anything more than a pipe dream at this current juncture to get Flash to think about coming back in any format. He’s having too much fun being him and doing him apparently. Besides, he already admitted that he isn’t ready at the moment by saying that he would be fired by Coach Spoelstra because of how much he’s tweeting lately.
Chris Bosh
Since Chris Bosh was forced to walk away from the game due to blood clot issues, there have been rumblings from the direction of the fans that he should join the organization in some fashion. When his name started to pop up in some of those discussions earlier this season, many thought that it was happening, until it wasn’t.
Well, in recent days there was a video posted that showed him working out with current Miami Heat big man Bam Adebayo and Bosh seemed in his element. It appears he is already taking on some of the responsibilities of the job, so it wouldn’t be that big of a transition. The Miami Heat Fans would be on board, and perhaps the current team and staff would be too.
Udonis Haslem
Udonis Haslem just finished his 15th season in the NBA and all with the Miami Heat. He is of course from Miami while he played his college hoops at the University of Florida. On top of his lengthy and exclusive Miami Heat career, his state and city roots would immediately see him accepted if he chose to do it.
As he still seems to be undecided about returning to the Heat for a 16th season, he may not be ready to hang up his sneakers. If he decides to return, the Miami Heat would certainly have him back and if nothing else than for the very thing that makes him an ideal candidate to take on the coaching job. He is already a respected veteran voice in that locker room who offers more or just as much in mentoring as he can on the floor.
These are a few of the names that Miami Heat fans are probably looking for to replace Juwan Howard. Howard was a good one, so the Heat will need a good one coming in. While Wade will not be that guy, the other two should definitely be given consideration in the event that they want the job.
