In this week’s look at the world of the Miami Heat, we’ll take a look at our 2019 mock draft, how the Heat can get Jimmy Butler and much more.

The NBA season is over and the offseason is fully upon us with multiple trades already in the books. We’re just a few days away from the 2019 NBA Draft, free agency and the trade chaos that is sure to ensue. In our weekly look at the world of the Miami Heat, we here at All U Can Heat put together our mock draft and took a look at the chances of getting Jimmy Butler, along with Goran Dragic updates and more.

Without further ado, we’ll get our recap started on the week that was here at AUCH.

Mock drafting the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft: From the first pick to the 30th pick, our co-experts Duncan Smith and Kenneth Wilson put together the first edition of the 2019 AUCH mock draft. While one pick has now changed hands as a result of the Anthony Davis trade between the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Orleans Pelicans, this thorough and comprehensive breakdown of the first round has a couple of surprises in the middle ranks.

3 draft prospects the Heat should stay away from: We took a look at some of the riskiest, highest-downside picks that might be available to the Miami Heat when the 15th pick comes around. Considering how much similar talent is available in the middle of the first round, the Heat should do well to avoid these selections.

3 draft prospects that could be second-round steals: Just about every year there are a couple of diamonds found in the rough in the NBA draft, second-round picks who turned out to be much more than their pedigree suggested. Kenneth Wilson broke down three such players who might be able to make it big at the NBA level.

Goran Dragic picks up his player option: As expected, Goran Dragic picked up his 2019-20 player option and will command a salary of $19.1 million next season. We broke down just what that means for the Miami Heat in 2019-20.

Appraising the trade value of the Heat roster: As the Miami Heat look to either get cheaper or better (and good luck doing both simultaneously), we broke down the trade value of each player on the roster to estimate whether positive returns could be made in exchange for each, or whether teams would have to be incentivized to accept toxic contracts.

Why the Heat signing Jimmy Butler is very unlikely: Jimmy Butler is reportedly willing and happy to meet with the Miami Heat once free agency begins, but the numbers simply don’t work. Kenneth Wilson explains why signing Jimmy Butler would be a difficult proposition.

How the Heat could acquire Jimmy Butler: Wait, you say. Didn’t you just claim the Heat can’t acquire Jimmy Butler? Well, it turns out there’s more than one way to acquire a free agent. Duncan Smith breaks down what would be involved in a sign-and-trade, and the hoops the Miami Heat would have to jump through in order to make it work.
