The 2019 NBA Draft is finally here. With only a few days left until the annual selection spectacle kicks off, here’s a walkthrough of what you need to know.
When is the 2019 NBA Draft?
The 2019 NBA Draft takes place on Thursday, June 20th. It will be held at the home of the Brooklyn Nets, or the Barclays Center. The event kicks off at 7:00 pm and will run until all the picks are made, but according to TVguide.com, ESPN has the 7:00pm-12: 30 am period blocked off for the event.
The Draft order and When the Miami Heat Select
In terms of when teams actually draft, the complete order for both rounds one and two can be found here via NBA.com. The Miami Heat actually only have one selection at the time of this piece, where they pick at 13. The draft order for the rest of the Draft Lottery or the first 14 picks of the NBA draft goes as follows:
1. New Orleans
3. New York
4. Los Angeles Lakers
10. Atlanta (from Dallas)
14. Boston (from Sacramento via Philadelphia)
Draft Rumors surrounding Miami Heat
While the Miami Heat have a few holes that they would like to fill, none of them are as position specific as some might imagine. What this means is that although they need scoring and perimeter shooting in the worst way, they aren’t tied to a specific position, as they do have capable players or bodies in all positions.
Although there aren’t any extremely strong links to particular players at this point, according to reports, the Heat have had the following players in for Pre-Draft workouts and visits among others: French forward Sekou Doumbouya, Gonzaga forward Brandon Clarke, Kentucky forward P.J. Washington, and Kentucky guard Tyler Herro just to name a few. They have also been linked to players such as guard Kevin Porter Jr. out of USC as well as forward Rui Hachimura of Gonzaga as potential targets at 13.
