As if multiple blockbuster trades during free agency wasn’t enough for the Miami Heat, Summer League began Monday night. We have all the key takeaways from the Heat’s first game.

It’s been a remarkable few days for the Miami Heat. They’ve just pulled off a massive four-team deal that brought Jimmy Butler to South Beach in a sign-and-trade with the Philadelphia 76ers, and bringing in the Los Angeles Clippers and Portland Trail Blazers to complete the transaction.

Not only has the NBA team just gotten a talent boost, but the action continued as Summer League began Monday night for the Heat.

The second game of NBA Summer League 2019 belonged to the Miami Heat and the Los Angeles Lakers in Sacramento and Heat nation got a real treat. Miami started a bit slow letting the Lakers go on an 11-4 run to start the game by giving up open 3-pointers. Eventually, the Heat snapped out of it scoring thirty points in the opening period and thirty-seven points in the second putting the Lakers in the rear view.

With Yante Maten and Kendrick Nunn held out Monday night, it was up to Duncan Robinson and 13th overall pick Tyler Herro to hold down the fort. This was the first time the Heat and their fans got to see Herro in-game against an actual opponent. Miami wanted to make sure to feature these two, and I’m here for it.

We’ll break down how some of the key characters performed for the Heat against the Lakers in game one.
