In this edition of Miami Heat Hot Topics, we take a look at why Erik Spoelstra remains among the top coaches and why Justise Winslow should be repositioned in the starting lineup.

In this edition of Miami Heat Hot Topics, we’ll run through the stories we here at All U Can Heat worked on over the weekend. From Erik Spoelstra’s standing among the coaches of the NBA to Justise Winslow‘s most ideal position for the Heat, there’s no shortage of debate and speculation as this remarkable July winds on.

Without further ado, we’ll get you caught up on what’s been going on in the world of the Miami Heat lately.

Why Heat coach Erik Spoelstra is still one of the top coaches:

Our own John Jablonka took to the defense of Erik Spoelstra after Dan Dakich’s comments during a Summer League game between the Miami Heat and the New Orleans Pelicans. While Dakich’s remarks were clearly ludicrous, as he called Spoelstra “just a guy” and stated that he belonged outside of the top 10 coaches, it gave John the opportunity to break down the tremendous resume Spoelstra boasts. Read John’s work to understand just why Dakich was completely out of line.

Justise Winslow should be repositioned in the starting lineup:

Justise Winslow had a bizarre but largely successful season last year for the Heat. He got some experience starting at point guard when Goran Dragic missed time with injuries and kept the job upon his return, but the point guard fit isn’t quite optimal. He should continue starting, mind you, but according to Duncan Smith he should be repositioned in the starting lineup alongside Dragic and Jimmy Butler.

What will Bam Adebayo’s evolution look like?

Of all the returning players on the Heat roster, perhaps nobody’s development is more fascinating or crucial to the future of the organization than Bam Adebayo. With planned workouts and training with both Chris Bosh and defending MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer, it’s going to be exciting to see what he shows next season.

Three Heat players poised for a breakout next season:

Speaking of development, the Heat have a handful of young players who are on the cusp of something special, but they’ve got to take the next step and make it happen next season. We broke down the three players (not counting rookies Tyler Herro and KZ Okpala) best positioned to break out in 2019-20.

Where the Heat’s non-guaranteed contracts stand:

The Heat have a number of non-guaranteed contracts on the books currently, including on projected rotational players like Derrick Jones Jr. We took a look at these contracts, who they belong to, what dates are important and how much money is on the hook for each player.
