The Miami Heat are poised to have one of their best seasons in the last few years. Here is why checking into Carmelo Anthony could solidify those chances.

As the world knows by now, future Hall of Famer Carmelo Anthony sat down to talk to Stephen A. Smith on Friday morning’s episode of First Take. There were many revelations made, from how he felt about some of his circumstances over the past year or so to what teams he’s been in contacts with for this upcoming season and although the Miami Heat weren’t mentioned, he also noted that there wasn’t anything newsworthy to speak of just yet.

While there haven’t been any solid developments on where he might end up playing next, he did note that his representation has been in contact with both Los Angeles teams, amongst others. Again and While he also didn’t mention the Miami Heat as being one of those teams, here are a few reasons why they should reach out to him if the two parties haven’t already had discussions.

For starters, Anthony has seemed humbled by his experiences over the past few seasons. While he said that no one had come to him directly about perhaps coming off the bench or accepting a bench role, those have been the rumblings for quite a while now. The exact dealbreaker for Melo was said to have been that he doesn’t want to play a bench role.

That is where him being “humbled” comes into play though. While he seemed that way before the interview in recent months, he definitely seemed that way during and subsequently after the interview with SAS. That is the first reason, he seems to now be willing to play whatever role a team will need him to play.

The next reason is that he still has the goods, plain and simple. As he noted in the interview, he can still flat out score the ball. The Miami Heat still need help in that area.

Even with the signing of Jimmy Butler, the Heat could never have enough viable options when it comes to getting a bucket. That was a huge issue for them last season, their inability to find offense at the most inopportune times. Whether it be mainly off the bench, in spot starts, or varying based on the situation, Anthony’s scoring prowess is definitely something that the Miami Heat could take advantage of.

Lastly and a little more outside of the box is something that we have harped on for weeks. If Carmelo Anthony were to ever sign with the Miami Heat, Dwyane Wade would definitely have to consider returning to play with him, right?

Not only would that mean that the Miami Heat were putting themselves in a position to compete at the highest level, but it would also give Flash the opportunity to play with one of his very best friends. After experiencing playing with friends before, that opportunity to do so again with another cohort seems like it would be too tempting to pass up.

Next. Would Carmelo Anthony be willing to buy into the “Heat Culture”. dark

No matter your take on Anthony and where he is now, it is a fact that he could help the Miami Heat in some form or fashion in this upcoming season. Make it happen Riles, as not only would it be a low-cost move for the team at this point, but it would be of the highest potential rewards. Those are a few reasons why the Heat should look into signing Carmelo Anthony.
