The Miami Heat are off to a wonderful start and the birds of change are already stalking around. What would be so wrong with staying with what we have?
The Miami Heat are off to a 22-8 record and a 13-1 record at home, which is good enough for them to hold the title of being the best home team in the league at this point in the season. Capped off by their latest victory, a tough home win against the Utah Jazz on Monday night, this Miami Heat team is made of the right stuff and from top to bottom. That begs the question though, why would some want to mix up the stuff?
While some of you are a bit confused, and especially with the euphoria of the Holiday nog creeping in right about now, we aren’t talking your favorite Christmas sipping concoction when we say “mix up the stuff”. When we say that, we are asking why anyone would want to break up or alter this team in any fashion?
They are playing very well as presently constructed, while having barely been fully healthy at any point this season and while just getting towards becoming that way. Goran Dragic is having an absolute monster season as the Miami Heat’s Sixth Man, owning and dominating in that role. Bam Adebayo is as good as the hype is that is finally surrounding him, throw out the fact that we knew what we had in him the entire time, the rest of the world is finally seeing what he is with his greater opportunities to display it.
Kendrick Nunn has been an absolute surprise and an absolute stud at times. We didn’t expect any of what he has given this season, but the same can be said for Duncan Robinson. He is a top 10 shooter from deep in the league, according to some of the more important shooting numbers, but looks to be one of the absolute best shooters in the league based on the eye test.
We know what Jimmy Butler is. He’s mean, he’s nasty, he’s a guy that you don’t want to meet after he’s been p’d off in a dark alley. He has been all that and more this season for the Miami Heat, doing whatever is required of him to get his team a victory.
The rest of the players on the team are taking steps forward every day as well. Meyers Leonard is becoming more and more physical and aggressive across each and every game, KO is his same steady, hard-nosed, do whatever it takes self that he has always been and we appreciate that. Derrick Jones Jr. has taken a mega step forward in his development as well, taking the three with confidence and making it with regularity.
Rookies Tyler Herro and Chris Silva have more than impressed, solidifying the eliteness that we already knew of the Miami Heat’s scouting and development system. Everyone has been stellar for the most part, so why, why look to move anybody?
You hear a lot of “would the Heat be better” this, or “what would it take to land” that, but what if the Miami Heat just stood pat? Why mess with a seemingly good thing?
I am not saying that if a clearcut homerun type of move makes itself available, you don’t take it. What I am saying, however, is that we shouldn’t look to make a move, just to say “we made a move”. That would be silly.
Until that homerun move makes itself available, we should continue to dance with the people we brought to the party. Plain and simple. We should trust in Pat and continue to stand that way as well, ALL PUNS INTENDED.
