The Miami Heat faced the Portland Trail Blazers Sunday, welcoming in a familiar face. Could they get the job done against a former player and his new team?
The Miami Heat are still the best home team in the NBA. They continued to prove that on Sunday as they handled the Portland Trail Blazers.
The game was never really that close, with the Miami Heat leading from start to finish. This was all while being without Jimmy Butler, who didn’t play due to a “locked back” and Justise Winslow, who hasn’t played in quite some time but who was upgraded from “out” to “questionable” earlier on Sunday.
Derrick Jones Jr. got the start in the place of the injured Jimmy Butler, but it was Goran Dragic who really filled in for him. Goran Dragic was an absolute mad man on Sunday for the Miami Heat, as he has been all season, going ballistic from the three-point line in the process.
Goran Dragic would finish with 29 points, three rebounds, and 13 assists on 11-17 from the field and 7-10 from distance. Derrick Jones Jr. and Bam Adebayo would also contribute mightily, other than their ferocious slams, with 19 and 20 points respectively.
Although the former number 21 of the Miami Heat, he who is not to be named here, took a defeat along with the rest of his team, he had himself quite a game. He put up 21 points, 18 rebounds, and two blocks on Sunday evening.

The Miami Heat were simply clicking on all cylinders Sunday and Goran Dragic was the shot of nitrogen oxide that they needed. This is the type of stuff that Goran Dragic can do for you and especially now that he gets a chance to focus on getting buckets as the Heat’s super sixth man. Coach Spo had an interesting quote after the game on the matter and as shown in the tweet above.
The Miami Heat are off until Wednesday, where they will face off against the Indiana Pacers in a rematch of a game from last week. It won’t be easy though, as the last one wasn’t, but hopefully they’ll regain more health before then. We can’t wait and just hope they play 90 percent as good as they did on Sunday.
