Here’s all fans need to know about how to stream Game 1 of the Miami Heat NBA Finals
The Miami Heat are in the NBA Finals for the sixth time in franchise history. As an expansion team in the NBA in 1988, their success in such a limited period of time is extremely impressive. Miami is not only the mark of success for an expansion franchise, they are the mark of success for a sports franchise period.
From Dwyane Wade and Shaquille O’Neal in the mid-2000s to the Heatles era in the mid-2010s, the Heat are back in it just six years after their last appearance.
And of course, their opponent on the other side is the man who led them to their four most recent Finals appearances, LeBron James.
It’s a major tug on the heartstrings of Heat fans and a confusing internal struggle. Heat fans for the most part support and love LeBron for all he did for the franchise in the short period of time he was with the team. But the allegiance is also with the team first.
Seeing LeBron win on a title is not the worst thing for Heat fans, typically. If it’s not Miami, it might as well be LeBron. But if it can still be Miami, you can bet your top dollar Heat fans want to see LeBron lose.
Also, Dion Waiters. Maybe he should actually get a ring either way?
Miami wasn’t a favorite at the start of this season. Led by Jimmy Butler and a cast of young players, no one really expected the Heat to contend deep in the playoffs. Miami’s tough as nails squad put together a strong battle and found themselves barrelling through the Eastern Conference with relative ease.
Most impressive is that Butler, while still the emotional leader of the team, hasn’t really had to take over any games. Tyler Herro, Bam Adebayo, and in some cases Duncan Robinson have led the charge almost completely, with Butler applying the finishing touches where necessary.
It’s true team basketball, and it should excite Heat fans for what is ahead even beyond this year.
The Lakers are a formidable opponent, but by no means are they a lock for a sweep. In 2020 and with no fans, anything can happen. Miami is built well, so is Los Angeles.
That said, the talent on the Western Conference side can not be ignored. LeBron James is a top-2 player in the league undebatably. Anthony Davis is in the top-5 conversation, and some mystical force always turns Rajon Rondo into an All-Star level player during the postseason.
We’ve got at least four games to figure out who the champion will be. Buckle in, folks, it’s going to be a good one.
