The Miami Heat need help, that’s obvious. However, that doesn’t mean that they should just take the first thing that comes along.

Needing help and being desperate are two completely different things, just to be clear. That’s really the conversation here.

That’s why the Miami Heat should stay off of Blake Griffin. They are in need of help desperately right now, but they haven’t reached that level of desperation.

Why is that the case, one might ask? How can a guy as decorated as Blake now be considered a severe exercise in desperation?

Well, here’s how. Let’s get into the three reasons why the Miami Heat should stay away from Blake Griffin.

Three Point Shooting

Blake Griffin would have to play beside Bam Adebayo if he were to join the Miami Heat. That would inevitably mean him needing to launch a consistent dose of outside shots for the Heat.

Here’s the thing though, he already does that pretty regularly with the Pistons. On 6.2 attempts per contest from deep, Blakes shooting just 31.5 percent.

If it means anything, Kelly Olynyk shoots 34.8 percent on 6.3 attempts. Basically, he shoots a better percentage on more attempts per game, which is just… better.

That’s the first reason why they shouldn’t look at him. He would have to shoot the three in Miami and he really just isn’t that good at it.

This leads us right into our next reason though as well.
