Miami Heat may have beat LeBron on Saturday, but here’s to his brilliance
The Miami Heat probably just got one of their best win of the season so far on Saturday. Although without Anthony Davis, the Miami Heat were able to go in and get a win over a feisty Los Angeles Lakers bunch.
The fact that this is the same Lakers team that beat them in the Finals last year just made it that much sweeter though. However and as much as we would like to think that this is the end all be all to righting the ship, there is more work to do.
With that game in the rearview though and an omniscient presence of the work they have to do to get better hovering above them, let’s take a look at a brighter topic for a second. Yes and again, the Heat beat LeBron in their most recent matchup on Saturday, but he is still brilliant.
The Miami Heat beat LeBron last, but he’s still one of the most brilliant minds in the game.
Take this quote from Miami Heat head man, Erik Spoelstra, on his experience against LeBron James in the Finals. It… hits different… as we say, because not only has he coached against him at the highest level, but as we all know, he’s coached him at the highest level as well.
Here is the quote, per Tim Reynolds.
"In the Finals, he was making adjustments to our adjustments, to the adjustments, and not making an adjustment to the adjustment I thought about making the adjustment, but I bluffed the adjustment, and he knew I was making a bluff. By the end of the series, I had no idea what the adjustments were."
Typically, we would be looking at our head coach funny here, however, when talking not only one of the greatest physical specimens to play the game but one of the greatest minds to ever play the game in LeBron, it’s actually to be expected. He is actually on the court and executing the actions, plus he knows you as a coach and the philosophy of your team, so for him to be able to do that is par for the course.
You expect as much out of LeBron, you really do. That still doesn’t take away from this brilliance he put on display though.
Again, we have the last laugh for now though. Because the last time he saw the Heat, on Saturday, he lost.
