The Miami Heat got a much-needed victory on Wednesday night over the San Antonio Spurs. Coming into the game off of a terrible loss to the Chicago Bulls, the Miami Heat needed this one in the worst way.
Heading down the stretch into a part of the season that may make or break the Miami Heat, Jimmy Butler and others have made it known that they need to come together, as a whole, to play a lot better than they have been and more consistently too. That started on Wednesday night.
Though it wasn’t a blowout or anything like that, it was still a solid showing for a Miami Heat team that needed to play a complete game, from start to finish, in the worst way. They did that and though they weren’t dominant, there was one Miami Heat player that was dominant, relative to the time he spent on the floor.
The Miami Heat needed a big man in the worst way and they found one of the best there has been since his stint in Miami began.
In just 16 minutes of action on the floor, Miami Heat center, Dewayne Dedmon, managed to finish with 18 points, nine rebounds, and one huge block on a Rudy Gay dunk attempt.
Jimmy Butler had nothing but great things to say about the Miami Heat’s latest addition. Here is what he had to say about Dedmon, per Brendan Tobin of 790 The Ticket.
"First of all, he’s over there talking extremely loud, but, outside of that. It’s easy when you play with a bunch of guys that play the right way. And that want to pass the ball.He just… he plays incredibly hard. He’s unselfish. He takes all the right shots and we probably actually want him to shoot the ball a little bit more, especially on that pick & pops, but he’s a pro’s pro.He comes in, he stars in his role. And um, he’s not handed anything.I think he has earned every trip up and down that floor and every minute that he’s been given."
The Miami Heat needed a big man as the season began to progress and as the NBA Trade Deadline came and went. For some strange reason and as we are seeing now, Dedmon was chilling at the crib, waiting to be called.
He shouldn’t have been, as he should have been on a roster before the Heat were fortunate enough to land him. Be glad that he wasn’t though.
Be really glad. Jimmy Butler sure is.
