Miami Heat: Perhaps A 2nd-Tier Approach To Free Agency Is The Way?
The Miami Heat are once again searching. After a short playoff life, getting bounced by the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round of the NBA Playoffs and quickly over just four games, the Miami Heat now have to get back into the lab for work.
The mad scientist at the helm of this ever-evolving and continuous experiment though is a guy that everyone should trust to achieve the maximum results, Pat Riley. Riley, who has sort of coined the next phrase over the past few years, has made it known that he’s a big game fisher when it comes to his recruitment of players for Miami.
Chasing and hoping to catch the “whale”, you can be sure that Riley will exhaust everything he has to try and get the Heat back to the pinnacle of title contention. With that thought and the thought of the giants of the ocean, whales, is this the right approach at the moment for Miami?

The Miami Heat need a little something else to compete, but who’s to say that it has to be a massive superstar?
Being a few games away last season and a guy who could create for himself, offensively, away from potentially making another postseason run this year, who’s to say that they need a massive move? That would include the waves made by the landing of another whale, as the Jimmy Butler haul was impressive when it happened and definitely qualifies there.
What this all means is this. Perhaps, the Miami Heat should focus more of their efforts on those lower-tiered stars, as oppose to the biggest of the big names.
Immediately and of course, a name like Kyle Lowry comes to mind. How about the Toronto Connection reunion, such as Lowry and former Toronto teammate, DeMar DeRozan?
Who’s to say that Derrick Rose, who showed what he can still do throughout these playoffs, shouldn’t be an option for Miami? Though currently in Miami, somewhat, Victor Oladipo should be one of those lower-tiered stars that they should try to convince to stay on a prove-it deal, if not already in the works.

Any of Tim Hardaway Jr., Kelly Oubre, Will Barton, Spencer Dinwiddie, or maybe even a… Lonzo Ball, would all be nice additions to this Heat team that, probably, wouldn’t break the bank. It would allow them the chance to bring in an impact guy, while still having flexibility left over.
