The Miami Heat are dead in the middle of their offseason. While there are still teams left battling for the NBA Title, the Heat find themselves in next season mode after being bounced, sweepingly, in the first round.
With that though, it’s time to go back to the drawing board to come up with a better plan. But hold on to that thought for a second.
With the Miami Heat being done early, the guys probably had plenty of time to rest. For one particular Miami Heat player and that guy being Bam Adebayo, that was more than enough time, as he agreed to suit up for Team USA at the Tokyo Olympics.
With that comes all sorts of opportunities and the ability to play among some of the best talent in the world, mostly on your own team if you are Bam. That’s just it though, he’ll be around some of the best talent that the NBA has to offer on a regular basis and all of them aren’t happy in their current situations.
Well, per Brendan Tobin of 790 The Ticket, here is a video that teeters along those lines. This is the part where the Miami Heat and their drawing board may return to the room.
The Miami Heat are probably in the market for a third ‘guy’. Could that guy be recruited during Bam Adebayo’s time in Tokyo with Team USA?
When asked a question about recruiting players at the Olympics or during his time with Team USA, Bam’s response was a roundabout “please don’t fine me for early-admission to tampering” way of saying “yes”, he would. When asked about if he would, essentially, “sell the merits” of the Heat Culture, he said that he might but most curiously, he said that some of his Olympic teammates might ask him.
Interesting. That last part is very interesting.
That doesn’t mean that it’s wrong though. That’s actually the part of the whole thing that separates the Miami Heat in most of these situations.
In a lot of situations, they shouldn’t be able to get the things done that they are able to. However, because of the ability that they have to pull together a winning situation, teach winning, and all while doing it within their culture, they’ve been able to land guys that a lot of people never thought they’d see there.
While the whole Big 3 Era counts there, you could, arguably, toss the whole Shaq situation in there too. Jimmy Butler is also an example, as the Miami Heat made the deal without the literal resources, for the most part.
They got these things done though, in large part, due to being the preferred destination of the guys in question. That’s also what may be sizing up to happen here.
There are a few guys that don’t seem too happy where they are but are also in what seems like impossibly inescapable situations, from their perspective or a Miami Heat perspective when it comes to collecting the assets to move.
But, with the ability to seduce a player, for lack of better terms, the Miami Heat always have a shot. That’s the only thing that could make a guy go to Bam to ask about the Culture on his own.
But that’s also why nothing should ever shock a person about this franchise.
