The Miami Heat are up to their necks, already, in a young but a surely compelling offseason of events to come. While they have their hands and heads full, trying to sort their roster for next season and better, there is a bit more news percolating on the wire that may help clarify some things for them.

Rumored to be linked to Collin Sexton of the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat might be one of the happiest sets of people on Earth today. In case they are seriously considering bringing in The Young Bull, all of the leverage may have just swung in their favor.

Well, to one of the several teams interested. First though, the rumor and report.

The Miami Heat are reportedly still in on Collin Sexton because apparently, he’s extremely available.

Jason Lloyd of The Athletic (Subscription required) is reporting that sources have Sexton as being “very available”, when it comes to the Cavaliers and their plans moving forward. With that, some of those that cover the Cavaliers also suggest that the Miami Heat are among a few teams interested in the enigmatic scoring guard.

The ball seems to be fully in the courts of those teams, those that are in on Sexton. While proclaiming it like this or letting it leak, for lack of better terms, isn’t the best thing for the Cavaliers and their ability to secure the most back for him, it certainly helps those pursuing him.

For what it’s worth, if the Miami Heat have to eventually choose when it comes to their pursuit of a lead guard, between Kyle Lowry and Sexton, it should be Lowry every single time. Also, as the Cavaliers are reportedly not expected to seek an extension with Sexton, stating the obvious if he is on the block, that is also something to consider with him.

If you are the Miami Heat and you trade for the guy, you’ll have to do the extension or the deal was a net negative. Without an extension, he’d walk and that’s all while the Heat would have still had already given up whatever resources it took to land him.

The best way to not get burned in this scenario, by any sort of situation that could occur as a result, is to leave it alone. According to the reports though, Sexton is, indeed, available and that goes double for the Miami Heat’s interest.
