Why Dedmon and Strus were the perfect signings for the Miami Heat: They know how to play their roles

In addition to adding depth, the Miami Heat signed two players that know how to play a role super well. Both players have carved out very specific roles for themselves in Miami already.

With the amount of star power they are set to have in the starting lineup, the Heat need players who will come in and play their roles well. Dedmon and Strus both do that.

Dedmon is a backup center and nothing more. Adebayo is the clear starter and that isn’t going to change anytime soon.

Regardless,  Dedmon can come into the game and provide quality minutes when he needs to. He’s an adequate defender and a very efficient scorer who does the job he needs to do and that’s it.

The energy he brings to the floor is also super key. Having players who can come in off the bench and keep up the same energy the starters had is super important.

As for Strus, he has a great opportunity next year to learn from Duncan Robinson. The vision for Strus should be to replicate exactly what Robinson does but off the bench.

Strus is already a great shooter, he just needs to learn how to get to his spots like Robinson does. If he can learn to perfect that, his role as a shooter will be elevated to a whole other level.
