In the 2020-2021 NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat were swept by the Milwaukee Bucks, who ultimately won the NBA championship. After losing a close Game 1 in the first round, the Heat looked jaded and lacking effort after a long season.

Not only was there a lack of effort from Miami, but there was also a clear gap between the talent on both teams. While the Heat have some great players, they don’t have anyone on the level of Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokoumpo.

The Bucks’ sweep of the Heat questioned whether they truly had enough to win with the roster they had. So, the organization took last season as a wake-up call.

So far, the Heat have made some key additions to their team, including the singing of a floor general in Kyle Lowry and a defensive anchor in P.J. Tucker. The Miami Heat did what they usually do in the offseason, attract some of the game’s biggest free agents and convince them to sign with the team.

However, the Heat were involved in several trade rumors leading up to the free agency period. More often than not, making a risky trade will set a team back and put them further away from their goals.

For the Miami Heat, the conversation would have to start with a package centered around Tyler Herro or Duncan Robinson, so they could have put the future of their team in jeopardy. Sometimes, the thing that separates a good team from a championship team is making a move that ends up being a very rewarding one.

Here are some of the riskiest trades the Miami Heat could have made this offseason and whether or not they should have actually made these trades.
