Miami Heat: Could Goran Dragic Finish His Career In South Beach?
The Miami Heat broke the collective hearts of a many Miami Heat fans some time ago. It had to be done, but that doesn’t mean that it hurt any less.
As many are aware by now, the Miami Heat now boast a roster and lineup that features Kyle Lowry to go along with Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and the crew. Well, as noted and not mentioned, Goran Dragic’s name was absent from the listed.
That’s because he had to be traded to make the deal happen. That’s common knowledge at this point.
Goran made his feelings on the Toronto Raptors and going there “common knowledge” recently too, but that’s neither here nor there, as he’s since cleaned that up. Michael Grange of Sportsnet had the spruced up report and Dragic quote.
The Miami Heat had to move a Heat Lifer to make the Kyle Lowry deal happen. Don’t be so sure Goran Dragic never returns though.
Here it is.
While those are his feelings on going to Toronto… or not, that isn’t as important to us as where he may eventually end up. Well, today it isn’t.
When it comes to Goran Dragic, his relationships with those that are still in and apart of the Miami Heat, and his seven years with the organization, it’s not unfathomable to believe that this isn’t the end of their pairing. You know what, here it is.
Putting it out there. Goran Dragic will finish his career in Miami and yes… playing for the Miami Heat.
That means it won’t be ceremonial, meaning a one-day or temporary signing to retire, for paperwork and jersey retirement purposes. Dragic will play his final moments of meaningful professional basketball for the Miami Heat… book it!
Though the notion here wasn’t brought on by their prediction, it’s interesting that this is a shared notion.
Interesting, right? So, the rules state that he or said player can’t be signed again by the team that traded him, the Miami Heat, until the end of next season. This is because it was in-between seasons in which he was traded.
If he doesn’t end up in Dallas beside Luka Doncic.. and even if he does for a time, then don’t be shocked if he finishes in Miami. Not only wouldn’t it be the worst thing it the world but if you know what he’s meant to the franchise, you actually hope for it.
