The best move the Miami Heat made this offseason: Honorable mentions

Honorable mentions: The Summer League roster

Though it technically wasn’t a move, the formation of Miami’s Summer League roster was beautifully done. It could also end up leading to them signing a couple of young players.

Miami managed to put together a great group of guys with a ton of potential. Marcus Garrett, DeJon Jarreau, and RJ Nembhard in particular have played super well.

Most people expect Miami to sign Marcus Garrett to a two-way contract at the very least. Past that, who knows who else they could bring on board from the Summer League roster.

Honorable mentions: Signing Kyle Lowry

This is a fairly obvious choice considering how good of a player Kyle Lowry is. Adding another All-Star to the team is always going to be seen as a great move.

The Miami Heat now have a big three of Lowry, Jimmy Butler, and Bam Adebayo. Now all they have to do is win some games together.

The only slight downside to this deal is Lowry’s age. By the time he’s 39 years old, he’ll still be making around $30 million. That’s the only thing that takes away from such a great signing.

Honorable mentions: Extending Jimmy Butler

The Miami Heat extended Butler for another four years, which means they’ll be able to keep their core together for that long. That should give them plenty of time to make a run at a title.

Anytime an organization is able to keep their star player around it should be seen as a win. This move is no different.
