Though ranked high throughout and at number three in the final NBA Defensive Player Of The Year Ladder rankings last season, Bam should still feel snubbed. Here’s why.
There is a world where Ben Simmons can be seen as a better defender than Bam. He’s just as big, just as athletic, just as fast, and just as strong.
Fair. He does, almost as much, for the Philadelphia 76ers as Bam does for Miami on that side of the ball.
The other guy though, he’s, simply, the best help-side defender known to man, that gets credit for everything. That’s neither here nor there, but it is about next season.
Bam Will Win The NBA DPOY Award
It will finally be Bam’s time. He has been a high competitor for the award for, at least, a season and should have been for, at least, two years now.
With the Miami Heat’s defensive lineups that they can throw out there next season, it should only enhance his standings there. Bam Adebayo is an elite defender in the NBA, a peak defender, and capable of guarding anybody on the court.
There is literally only two more guys like that in the league and one of them is still a bit loose with it, in Kevin Durant, but the other guy is Ben Simmons. That’s why he actually doesn’t get a ton of fuss if he’s ranked ahead of Bam, that just means Bam has to beat him.
In any light, Bam Adebayo should be able to crush each of these predictions, to be honest. Guess that makes them not so bold… huh?
