Summer League is officially over, and the Miami Heat had a fairly successful run. The Sacramento Kings ended up beating the Boston Celtics in the championship game last night.

With the end of Summer League, the NBA always announces MVPs and two All-Summer League teams. Weirdly enough, they named two MVPs and 12 total players to the two teams.

The MVPs of the league were Davion Mitchell of the Kings and Cameron Thomas of the Nets. Both players played incredibly well and easily deserved the honor.

However, there were some questionable choices made when the All-Summer League teams were selected. Notably, no Miami Heat players were named to either team.

The First Team included seven players, which is two more than technically should be on the team. Still, the NBA managed to snub every single player on the Heat.

The seven players who made the First Team were Jalen Johnson of the Hawks, Trey Murphy III of the Pelicans, Payton Pritchard of the Celtics, Jalen Smith of the Suns, Obi Toppin of the Knicks, Mitchell, and Thomas.

The Second Team, made up of five players, included Cade Cunningham and Luka Garza of the Pistons, Jalen Green of the Rockets, Paul Reed of the 76ers, and Patrick Williams of the Bulls.

All of these players are great and played super well during Summer League. However, a couple of Miami Heat players were arguably more deserving of a spot.

Max Strus finished top ten in scoring while shooting 40.0% from deep on 11.3 attempts per game. He even had a clutch game-winner in double overtime to top it all off.

Omer Yurtseven finished Summer League averaging 20.0 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game. Despite this, he still didn’t make a team.

Both Marcus Garrett and DeJon Jarreau played great defense while also doing all the little things on the court. Neither of them made an All-Summer League team.

It just seems as though someone from the Miami Heat deserved a spot on a team, especially considering they expanded it to 12 total players. Both Strus and Yurtseven easily had the stats to make one.

Regardless, the NBA decided that no one from Miami played well enough to make an All-Summer League team. I guess they will just have to prove them wrong in the regular season.
