The Miami Heat were missing something last season. They didn’t have a guy who could go get himself a bucket out of nothingness and at the same time, a guy who could help the rest of the team get out of that same type of muck or rut.
Bringing in Kyle Lowry this offseason, they have, likely, remedied that issue. With his ability to generate offense, both for himself and others, that should make them as lethal as they have been since the Big 3 Era. There is the question though.
How lethal will they be? To what extent does Kyle Lowry’s presence go when it comes to how good they can be?
Well, that answer is complicated, however, it does lead to a bold prediction for Kyle Lowry. Here it is.
Bold Prediction – He Will Average 20 Or More Points Per Game This Season
Though that doesn’t sound like anything crazy, especially for a guy you just paid $30 million to annually or of Lowry’s ilk, that number would actually mean quite a bit.
The Miami Heat will need the best from Kyle Lowry this season to accomplish the ultimate goal. If he can fill it up, offensively, that’ll be a nice start.
First off, he hasn’t averaged 20 or more points in four seasons and has only done it twice in his career. Though he’s come extremely close, a few times, it’s only been twice.
There is also something else about it though that makes it all interesting. That number would have also put him in the top-40 scorers in the NBA on last season.
That would be among names like Khris Middleton, Terry Rozier, Christian Wood, Jamal Murray, and Domantas Sabonis, to name a few. Jimmy Butler wasn’t that far away last season, at 21.5, but that was more than the 17.2 that Lowry averaged.
The Miami Heat will certainly need all that they can get from Lowry and this would count there. He’s capable and especially with the opportunity he’ll be afforded with his new teammates.
What they can do as individuals should provide him with lots of quality looks and matchups to take advantage of. He’ll do the same for him.
Something that helps on both fronts, for him and his team both on the offensive side, is his long-range shooting ability. Shooting, practically, 40 percent on over seven attempts last season, that should help him and his team be very productive.
With the excitement of a new situation and the opportunities before them, Lowry should be able to accomplish this goal. That’s why this was his bold prediction for the coming year.
