Miami Heat shooting guard depth chart: Starter – Duncan Robinson
Duncan Robinson will be the starting shooting guard for the Miami Heat this season. After paying him the amount of money he did, that much is clear.
Last season, Robinson was one of five players in the entire league to start all 72 games. Taking him out of the starting lineup seems like a very unlikely scenario.
His shooting is crucial to Miami’s offensive playbook, and it is only bound to improve this season. With two elite playmakers alongside him, there’s no reason Robinson can’t have a career season.
There’s an argument that Jimmy Butler is the shooting guard and Robinson is the small forward, but that’s just nitpicking at that point. Robinson is the starting shooting guard.
Miami Heat shooting guard depth chart: Backup – Tyler Herro
Not only will Tyler Herro be the backup shooting guard this season, but he will also likely be the team’s go-to sixth man. His skillset is exactly what the Heat need on this roster.
Despite the immense talent throughout the team, Miami lacks a bonafide bucket-getter. Herro can play that role for them and play it well.
He can be a go-to scoring option when he needs to be, and he showed that in The Bubble. His shot-making and shot-creating abilities helped lead the Miami Heat to the 2020 NBA Finals.
Having him on the roster will help shore up some of the scoring issues the Heat may run into this season. He’ll be the first shooting guard off the bench, as well as the first player off the bench in general.
