In a move that everybody saw coming, the Miami Heat signed Marcus Garrett to a two-way contract. This move makes a ton of sense for both sides and should help the Heat tremendously this season.
Though he can only spend 50 games will the Heat, Garrett will bring a great defensive presence to their bench. However, this means the Miami Heat still have one two-way spot open.
While the discussion of who should fill these spots has already been brought up, a few of the popular candidates have been snatched up. Now that Garrett has taken up one of the spots, who should take the other?
What available players should the Miami Heat target with their second two-way spot? Which five players should be at the top of their list?
Two-way options for the Miami Heat: Yves Pons
Yves Pons is a name that has been brought up multiple times when discussing potential two-way players. The former Tennessee forward would be a great fit in Miami.
He spent his Summer League with the Memphis Grizzlies and is still technically under contract with them. He signed a training camp deal with them, so they currently have his rights.
If they choose to release him, though, the Heat should scoop him up right away. He’s a super physical, defensive-minded forward who could help with wing depth.
In addition, he has shown promise shooting the three, and his form is beautiful. Under the Miami Heat’s development program, Pons could grow into a great rotational piece.
