The Miami Heat have a great mix of young players and veterans on their team. In fact, they simultaneously have one of the best young cores in the NBA, while also being expected to compete for a championship this year.

Despite losing in Round 1 last year, the Miami Heat have been known as a team that thrives due to their strong leadership. They have scrappy veterans who know what it takes to win.

This great leadership, along with a “do whatever it takes to win” mentality has led to much success. As a new season is set to begin, though, who is going to take the reigns as the leaders of this team?

Which players are going to step up as the leaders on this 2022 Miami Heat team? Will any unexpected names emerge as leaders?

Leaders on the 2022 Miami Heat roster: Udonis Haslem

This is more of an honorable mention at this point, but Udonis Haslem will undoubtedly be a leader on this team. He’s been a leader in Miami for nearly 20 years and that isn’t going to change now.

Despite rarely getting playing time anymore, Haslem is able to have a major impact on the Heat. His leadership off the bench is unlike anything else around the league.

He’s more of a coach than a player at this point, but that’s just how the dynamic works. He makes an impact without even touching the floor.

Having Haslem around for so long has clearly worked in favor of the Miami Heat. He’ll be back on the bench this year leading the troops once again.
