Miami Heat: An adequate Jimmy Butler Deep Shot Really Changes Things

It’s no secret that the Miami Heat are contenders this season. With the talent they have collected, they are sure to be among the teams in the NBA that the rest of the teams get amped up to play.

They’ll try to go about getting it done in a similar fashion to the way that they have over the last couple of years. That would be with the three point shot.

While Duncan Robinson will, likely, be their leader in the category again, Kyle Lowry will probably be their next best man there. While they have guys behind them that can get going from range, such as Tyler Herro and Max Strus, there is one guy that has flat-out struggled from deep since joining the Miami Heat.

Jimmy Butler has been putrid from range since becoming a member of the Heat. A career 32.7 percent shooter on 2.6 attempts from range, he hasn’t even been that good in Miami.

In his two seasons with the Heat, he’s shot 24.4 percent on around two attempts in his first year and though a laughable improvement, 24.5 percent during last season with the Heat. Basically, he was no better.

The Miami Heat can win a title this year and that isn’t stretching it a bit. If Jimmy Butler can find his outside shooting again, those chances go up that much more.

He apparently knows it though. Per Overtime and NBA Skill Coach, Chris Brickley, Jimmy Butler is busy working on that outside shot… among other things.

Yes, it could be the Ben Simmons Effect, the one where he looks good shooting alone during every offseason, only to come back and still not be better. However, Jimmy doesn’t seem like that type of guy.

There is still the fact that he has to do it against live competition and in live-game action too. So, there are those things.

However, if he can regain his form from the outside, that takes the Miami Heat offense to a totally different tier. Let alone, all of the other snazzy stuff he seems to be working on to get better.

With all else they have and the kind of defense they should be able to muster up, that puts the team right there behind the top two teams in the East. Mere inches.

Those two teams are not only the top two Eastern teams, but two of the top competitors for the title this year as well in the Milwaukee Bucks and the Brooklyn Nets. That’s something to aspire to.

That’s also why Jimmy’s outside shot is key for them. The season is almost here and hopefully, the work pays off then.
