Miami Heat: Victor Oladipo May Still Be A Huge Piece Of Their Future
As far as what the Heat received back in return, Victor Oladipo, that experiment could have played out so much better than it did. While he would only play a few contests with the Miami Heat before going down for the remainder of the season to more injury, it wasn’t totally a lost cause.
The thought behind it all is simple. The Miami Heat would have a chance to do a good look-see over the situation, regardless.
While having Oladipo make a large impact throughout the remainder of last season after his arrival and the playoffs would have, surely, made this an “A+” move, it didn’t play out that way. Here is the mark you end up with on the regrade.
Regrading The Trade: B
It was a flat-out “B”. Again, the Miami Heat didn’t move anything of real consequence to a title to land him.
Even with the guys in tow that they traded and the pick, that would have made no difference in the bloodbath that was the first-round series during these past playoffs. The Miami Heat did finally make that connection too.
Long standing chatter, it had been suspected that Miami was where Oladipo wanted to be. They finally got it done.
That also plays right into the medicals and actuality of the situation. Having the ability to get a first-hand look at things was just one benefit of having him in the building, but it also showed him that you wanted him.
Though injured, so not a peak-market value anyway, he chose to return to the Miami Heat this offseason on a one year prove it type deal for $2.38 million dollars. The fact that both parties were willing and able to come to that type of agreement makes the deal a success in itself.
Because he got hurt so early, you can’t give it the top grade. However and with all things considered, it still might’ve worked out perfectly, which is why it still receives high marks.
It’s unknown when he’ll be back, perhaps December, according to some reports. Whenever he does though, it’ll give the Miami Heat a great boost and that further makes it all worth it.
