Best Miami Heat trades in the last 5 years: 1. Dwyane Wade
This deal was brought up in the article which detailed Miami’s trade history with the Cleveland Cavaliers. It just so happens that it is also the best trade the Heat have made in the last five seasons.
Back in 2018, Pat Riley managed to pull off a phenomenal trade to bring home a legend. Dwyane Wade began the season in Cleveland, but he ended the year, and his career, in South Beach.
That was LeBron James’ final season in Cleveland, and his ultimate goal was to win another championship. Well, the roster he had to begin the season looked nothing like the one he finished it with.
The Cavaliers, likely in tandem with James, traded away the likes of Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas, and Wade that season. It was a very odd fire sale for a team that would go on to reach the finals.
Regardless, Pat Riley pounced on the opportunity to get back the greatest player in Miami Heat history. He only had to trade a future second-round pick in order to get the deal done.
It allowed Wade to finish his career in the city where it all began. The trade didn’t lead to any championships, but it sure led to a whole bunch of amazing memories.
