The Miami Heat’s Depth Still Proving To Be A Viable Weapon
The Miami Heat organization is one that has gotten accustomed to dealing with adverse situations. This year has been no different, with the rash of health and safety protocols caused by Covid, along with the occurrence of regular NBA seasonal injuries.
At the very start and coming into the year, it was believed that the Miami Heat’s depth and the potency in their reserve units would be a strength of theirs. And indeed, that has proved to be the case.
With injuries to Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, their two best players, forcing them to miss substantial amounts of time and though in different increments this season, they have still found themselves able to compete.
The Miami Heat knew their depth would be huge for them entering the year, but who would have expected this? It’s become a legitimate weapon for them.
That’s been at the highest levels and with the very best teams in the league. Take for example their latest victory over one of the league’s best, the Phoenix Suns. Indeed indicative of that very point, the Miami Heat got it done without, again, their best two players in Bam and Jimmy.
Not only were they able to get a win though, but they were able to get it done in a very convincing way. With the guys that were playing stepping up in a major way, including Duncan Robinson, Max Strus, Tyler Herro, and of course, Kyle Lowry, they were able to go into Phoenix’s home building to leave folks confused about which team was fully healthy and which team wasn’t.
You also can’t fail to mention the impact of a guy like P.J. Tucker, who’s been huge throughout the entire season for the Miami Heat. With a team built like this one with the star power at the top, the leadership throughout, and the ability to impact the game in each and every area on any given night, the Miami Heat will find themselves right in the thick of the competition for the title come the end of the year.
That’s, especially, with the depth they’ve managed to accrue. It’ll be a weapon heading into the postseason and beyond the All-Star break.
