Miami Heat: Grading Victor Oladipo’s 2021-22 Season

When Oladipo first returned, he contributed a decent stat line, but nothing eye-popping. As the end of the season neared and the playoffs were getting closer, Erik Spoelstra needed to make a decision.

He ultimately decided to stick with the rotations that had worked for him all year. That meant there would not be a place in the rotation for Oladipo.

However, Oladipo stayed ready whenever his name was called. He ended the regular season by exploding for a brilliant 40-point game against the Orlando Magic.

That game proved that while he might not be in the playoff rotation, he can be relied upon to contribute should it be necessary.

It didn’t take very long in the playoffs for it to become necessary to bring Oladipo into the fold though. Injuries continued to affect the Miami Heat in the postseason.

With Kyle Lowry sitting out, later Jimmy Butler, and finally Tyler Herro, Oladipo’s number was called. He was a reliable playmaker in Indiana and this was his opportunity to prove that he still had playmaking abilities in a playoff environment for the Miami Heat after so much turmoil.
