The Miami Heat haven’t made much news during this offseason, other than the run-of-the-mill type or just plain old bad news. They’ve been heavily involved on the rumor mill, but the things that have actually come to fruition haven’t been of the highest magnitude of excitement.

Allowing P.J. Tucker to walk was news because he was their key offseason keep and he walked to a direct competitor in the East but other than that, Victor Oladipo and Caleb Martin have been their key offseason moves.

Now, you love that they could retain their own and especially those two, but it isn’t nabbing Kevin Durant or something of that large scaled nature. With the dearth of news-making storylines though, here is one that shook the internet, sort of.

While Jimmy Butler has gone for a longer-haired look recently in Miami, this takes it to a new level.

With the Miami Heat being still, Jimmy Butler is shaking things up. Extending his hair and his range, he’s looking to come back different after the offseason.

As heavily publicized by now, Butler is sporting what appear to be artificial extensions onto his regular hair to achieve the length. Here is another look at the extension though. For clarity and in this one—we don’t mean his hair.

Jimmy Butler is clearly making an effort to get comfortable with an efficient and effective deep shot from the top of the key. After increasing his volume from the outside at the end of last season and in the playoffs especially, it’s a part of his game you would like to see him return to more with consistency.

Being such a violent, rugged, and gifted driver of the ball to score and draw fouls, using the three more would not only allow that to be easier due to the added threat but also would help him to be able to produce at a high level with slightly less wear on his body.

You should always practice the shots you’ll shoot in the game, the old adage but for as cliché as it is, it’s the truth. Jimmy Butler is certainly a guy that you believe would prescribe to that notion.

And you just love to see it here. The extension on the shots—not necessarily the hair.
