The Miami Heat are heading into the 2022-23 NBA season with essentially the same roster as last year, plus Nikola Jovic but minus P.J. Tucker. Last season, they reached the Eastern Conference Finals and they were a few points away in a Game 7 from reaching the NBA Finals.
This year, the East is going to be very competitive. Reaching the NBA Finals and competing for a championship is going to be much tougher.
In order to stay competitive this year, Miami is going to need Tyler Herro to take another big leap this season. Last season, he improved enough to earn himself the NBA’s Sixth Man Of The Year Award as the second leading scorer on the team.
This season, the Heat will need Herro to improve multiple areas of his game. The most important area of improvement for Herro might be improving his defense enough to keep him from being a liability on the court.
However, when it comes to the most important stat for Herro this upcoming season, defense is not the biggest priority.
