The Miami Heat are riding high after a tough and much-needed defeat over the league’s best Friday night.
Getting Jimmy Butler back into the lineup, the Miami Heat were able to ride that momentum and some clutch plays from their resident superstar to a big victory over the team that many have coming out of the Eastern Conference and possibly, winning the NBA title.
Speaking of Jimmy Butler’s absence though, it saw the erection of many things for these Miami Heat. They were forced to test some things that they hadn’t up until that point.
G Leaguer turned two-wayer turned back to G Leaguer, Orlando Robinson, got his first taste of real NBA action as a result. Haywood Highsmith saw his first real elongated dose of minutes due to Butler’s absence, now a mainstay of the rotation, it seems, due to his ability to guard most anyone on the other side at a high level.
The Miami Heat may just have their next talented young guy with Nikola Jovic. Needing some run, he’ll get some Sunday in Sioux Falls with the Skyforce.
But, perhaps, above all of that, it saw the first real introduction of minutes for the Miami Heat’s newest player in rookie first-round draft pick, Nikola Jovic. The near seven-footer got a ton of run with the big club, showing off all of his skills along the way.
Able to operate as the main ball handler all the way up to one of the core bigs, the Miami Heat just might have their next really special talent on their hands. Sitting out recently due to injury though, things seem to be looking up for the young point center.
Well, at least he looks in line to get some needed run.
Needing to see more action for his development, while this could also be rehab-like for the youngster, needing to find his footing after dealing with a minor issue of late. Now, it’s worth noting that Jovic should be back with the big club in time for their Monday matchup with Memphis, according to reports.
However, needing to get him some real reps, this can only be good for him and his Miami Heat as they continue to chip away at their place standings.
