Sacramento should be a first call on Miami Heat’s ‘small tweak’ tour

The Miami Heat, like many other teams, missed out on Kyrie Irving. While it was no certainty they would’ve landed him anyway, Dallas pulling the trigger certainly takes him off the table for every other team in the league.

With that, there are still smaller moves out there to be made and though there has been no linkage between this team and the Miami Heat, per se, this next team might be the one to look at for said smaller move.

The Sacramento Kings, looking to attain their first playoff berth in nearly 2 decades, have quite a few pieces that are not in their current rotation. And when you look at the reports, they seem to be willing to move a few of them.

The Miami Heat will likely be on the market for a small move now, if any at all. And with that, they should be looking out west and not in LA either.

Here’s one of the reports (subscription required) in question. Specifically, it comes from Marc Stein.

"Sources say Sacramento has inquired about the availability of Charlotte’s Mason Plumlee. The Kings are known to be shopping both Richaun Holmes and Alex Len while likewise hoping to make a defensive-minded upgrade or two in advance of the club’s first playoff appearance in (no misprint) 17 seasons."

With Miami’s lack of size and death, both Holmes and Len, could imaginably help them right now in that area. A name that wasn’t mentioned but a guy that has been a source of intrigue here for quite a few seasons now is Chimezie Metu.

Like Len and Holmes, Metu is a guy capable of giving a team solid depth and production in the big areas, however, unlike Len and Holmes, Metu is also capable of giving you some action along the wings with his perimeter skill set and athleticism.

Either way it goes, the Miami Heat may be looking to be players before the February 9th trade deadline and if they are, a team like Sacramento may be a franchise to call.
