As the NBA All-Star game occurs in Salt Lake City, the Miami Heat do have representation. With the big man, Bam Adebayo, making his second NBA All-Star appearance they will be well represented on Sunday night.

And though they were well represented on Saturday night as well, it wasn’t, at all, the best showing.

And while these contests are just spectacles put on for the enjoyment of NBA fans, meaning that the tallies and the finishes won’t have any indication on the final results of the actual season, the hardware, the memories, and the experiences certainly still mean something in the grand scheme of it all to the competitors themselves.

The Miami Heat have representation in Utah for All-Star Weekend. Tyler Herro’s go at it on Saturday night wasn’t his best showing though.

And for the Miami Heat representation on Saturday night, Tyler Herro, in the three-point contest, his showing will mean something to him as well. Finishing in sixth place of the eight participants, he would only make 16 of his attempts during his first-round appearance, his singular round of action before being eliminated.

While Damian Lillard would go on to win the contest, making 26 of his attempts in both rounds, that tally would be the dominant one in the round that it mattered the most. Lillard won’t be the only one taking something home from it all though.

And though Tyler Herro won’t be taking a trophy home, he’ll certainly be taking home the big fat whopping L. But here’s the thing when you’re talking about a guy like Tyler Herro, a guy that takes every slight, every critique, and every nuance of criticism as a means of motivation—he’ll probably use this for the remainder of the season as fuel.

A bit of situational pettiness, as this would seem to be, is appropriate in certain situations, especially in sports, and as a means of motivation as it is here. And after all of the comments, the jokes, and the way that this showing should make him feel, it’s a safe bet that Tyler Herro will try to use this to be even more dynamic as a player in the second half of the year.

For him, it’s completely conceivable. And there is nothing wrong with it.
