With the Miami Heat’s addition of Kevin Love, there are a lot of positives to take away from it. For a team like the Miami Heat that has been challenged by the depth along their big man ranks all season long, this is a much-needed boost.
For a team that has been blasted on the boards that times, adding a guy that has been a dominant rebounder at points during his career and even at this stage, is definitely a boost. And also for a team struggling to shoot the ball from the outside, adding a guy who can knock down a shot will help them immediately and tremendously.
And you could do the same thing for each and every guy on the team if you wanted to, as they should all benefit due to Kevin Love’s presence.
The Miami Heat won as a whole unit by adding Kevin Love to the roster. However, the biggest singular winner from it all is Caleb Martin.
You take a guy like Bam Adebayo for example, who will have some of his load taken away by not having to be the Miami Heat’s “biggest” guy most of the time.
You then take a guy like Jimmy Butler, who should now have a bit more space to operate in the lane or the painted area with Love’s ability to pop off of the pick just as well as he could roll. And again, you could go on and on and on, but then there is this.
The guy along the Miami Heat’s roster who will probably most benefit from Love’s presence is Caleb Martin. A true power forward, Love should allow Caleb to slide back into his utility man role.
And with that, Martin can continue to excel with his athleticism, defensive electricity, and ever-improving jump shot. So, while the Miami Heat, as a whole, will greatly improve from Love’s addition, the guy that probably is the biggest winner in it all is Caleb Martin.
He’ll get to go back to focusing on wreaking complete havoc on both sides of the ball at all times. And that’s also a massive win for the Miami Heat.
