The Miami Heat came into the second half of their back-to-back set of games on Saturday off of a terrible defeat Friday night to the Milwaukee Bucks. Facing off against the Hornets in Charlotte on Saturday evening, the Heat would have the opportunity to make up for what was such a poor showing.

However, as the Miami began this contest on Saturday evening, their same terrible shooting from Friday night continued to rear its ugly head. At one point in the midst of the first half, it seemed as though the Heat couldn’t buy a bucket at all.

This isn’t being figurative or making a play on words, but quite literally the truth. And it’s a fact that was so extremely evident when you consider that they were only shooting 21 percent from the field and 9 percent from three at that point.

The Miami Heat had a chance to get a win in Charlotte in the second half of a back-to-back set. Like Friday night though, their offense let them down.

Fast forwarding to the second half of the game and actually later in the fourth period, the Miami Heat actually had a chance to win, being within just one possession of the Hornets several times.

And though Kevin Love and Cody Zeller’s presences have immediately helped them on the boards, timely Charlotte Hornets rebounding combined with untimely Miami Heat turnovers would be their ultimate undoing on a night where they couldn’t get the offense going until, pretty much, the second half.

There is also the fact of Charlotte Hornets rookie center, Mark Williams, who proceeded to go nearly 20 and 20 on the Heat, finishing with 18 points and 20 rebounds to be precise. Again, you can see the improvements that Love and Cody Zeller help them make but they need to continue to seek shot-making and it can’t wait until the second halves of games to happen.

They’ll have a day off before facing a tough Philadelphia 76ers squad on Monday and one that is surely to be a little ticked off after a last-second comeback defeat to the Celtics on Saturday night. It’ll surely be another tough task for a struggling Heat squad.
