The Miami Heat came out to play their absolute best game since the All-Star break on Saturday night. Ironically enough, it would be the second time in a week, playing one of their best games of the year and also ironically enough, in the midst of one of their poorest stretches of play during the year as well.
It’s actually pretty interesting, intriguing, ironic, and downright confusing. However, that’s neither here nor there, as the Miami Heat were victorious on Saturday night.
Sinking their shots from range and playing Miami Heat basketball, from the perspective of the effort, discipline, and defense that was put on display by this Heat bunch on Saturday, this Miami Heat team would come out and dominate the game for what seemed like beginning to end.
The Miami Heat came out to beat the Hawks on Saturday night, controlling the game all the way. However, the real test lies in whether they can do it again.
Though the Hawks made a push late to bring the game close, coming within six or seven points at one point near the end, the Miami Heat would refocus, recalibrate, and retake control of the game off the back of a crucial Caleb Martin three point make midway through the fourth quarter.
Quelling the Hawks’ run at that point, the Miami Heat would then salt the game away. Here’s the thing though.
The Miami Heat, not only, made their shots but unlike most of the teams that they had faced since the All-Star break, the Hawks didn’t shoot the ball on an “out of this world” level either. Now, the Miami Heat’s defensive effort was higher than it’s been since the All-Star break as well it seems, so you give that some merit there too.
All in all, they look good again but the real test is Monday, as they face this same Hawks team. If they can control Trae Young again, as they have for much of the recent history of this matchup, then they should, again, have a good chance to win.
