The Miami Heat Can Be Trusted To Lock In On D When They Need To The Most
When you look at the Miami Heat, they are a team traditionally built on defense, meaning that the foundation and those principles are always in there somewhere. Unlike offense, which relies on skills, great players, and simply making shots or not, defense relies on other things that are more controllable.
When it comes to defense, you specifically rely on effort and coaching. For the Miami Heat and to go back to those foundational principles, the effort is built-in, while you are secure up top in knowing that Coach is one of the best to ever do it, and certainly one of the best doing it today.
And among many other things but lastly here, when you look at their roster, most of their best players are defense first or at least, high-level two-way guys that you trust to get their job done on both sides.
From Bam Adebayo to Jimmy Butler, even to other guys such as Caleb Martin or Kyle Lowry even, though he gets it done with wit and know-how more than athleticism at this point, most of the guys you look for to make the greatest impact for the Miami Heat moving forward are self-starters on that side.
Now, nevermind the fact that games slow down, there are fewer possessions in the postseason, and you spend a ton of time, relatively, preparing to face the same team across multiple consecutive games, but everything should lean toward them being able to lock in when they need to— especially these factors along with everything else mentioned.
And that’s why if they can just keep producing enough on the offensive side of the ball, they’ll be just fine.
