As the noise surrounding a potential Giannis Antetokounmpo trade, the Miami Heat's front office hasn't done much to tone down the noise. And that, in itself, may be one of the biggest signs that there's a very good chance this Giannis trade actually goes down.

In the words of Heat reporter Ira Winderman, there have been times in the past when trade noise has reached a fever pitch. On most of those occasions, the front office will subtly drop hints to quiet most of it, especially when star pursuits just don't have much legs.

However, according to Winderman, that just hasn't been the case this time around. And that leaves him to believe that the Heat may have better than a real shot to land Giannis.

Heat's chances of landing Giannis seem to be growing

In this interview, Winderman said that he'd put the Heat's chances at 50/50 at this point, and that it might be selling their chances short.

Winderman didn't exactly get into the specifics of what he could be hearing, but even if he's just ingesting what everyone else is around the NBA, that certainly says a lot. In short, the Heat have a real shot to pull this off.

Considering that a trade for Giannis was considered a pipe dream just a few months ago, it's amazing how much things have shifted in less than a year. At this point, the Heat are considered, by many, the favorites to trade for Giannis.

Even just six months ago, I'm not sure if anyone would have agreed with that. Now it seems almost a unanimous narrative.

But despite the ecouraging signs working for Miami on the Giannis front, this is not over by any means. It won't be until the two sides reach an agreement. And, up to now, that hasn't happened.

Unless, of course, the two sides have quietly done so while making the joint decision to wait before an official announcement. That could've happened, but that's unlikely. If that were the case, there would be some sort of leak. It always happens.

The Heat can't fumble Giannis away at this point

We'll have to see, one way or another.

At least for now, though, it appears that the Heat still has some work to do. They've been the favorite before. This is not foreign to the front office. But it'll be of the utmost importance for them to formally cross the T's and dot the I's this time around.

Because, especially with how much momentum the Heat have built in pursuit of Giannis, it's hard to see how the front office would be able to live down another disappointing end this time around.

The good news for Heat fans is that there appears to be real evidence that the front office may finally be at the point where they can get it done. We shall see.
