Heat's perfect trade partner for Tyler Herro is becoming quite obvious

If the Miami Heat is able to cement a trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, it's becoming increasingly unlikely that Tyler Herro is going to land in Milwaukee. And if a third team does need to be roped in to absorb Herro, there's no better potential landing spot than the Detroit Pistons.

Because of his contract situation, it's understandable that the Bucks may have concerns about keeping Herro in a potential Giannis package from the Heat. And if Milwaukee has any concerns about finding middle ground on an extension, it doesn't really make sense for them to take the gamble.

But the opposite could be said about the Pistons. And if the Heat are going to find a path toward Giannis over these next few days, they're going to need a team like Detroit to step up.

The Pistons have been linked as a landing spot for Tyler Herro

While Detroit may have some of those same concerns about what a future could look like with Herro, they're one team that could view taking a flier on Herro as worth the gamble. Even if it is just a one-year rental, Herro could be worth the chance because of how close the Pistons feel they are to breaking through in the Eastern Conference.

In theory, if there's one team whose defensive scheme and personnel could absorb Herro quite seamlessly, it's the Pistons. With a strong defensive-minded backcourt/wing combination of Cade Cunningham and Ausar Thompson, Herro would be able to fit quite comfortably at the two spot.

He'd offer the Pistons some much-needed offensive firepower and another perimeter threat. Detroit may be more willing to take the risk on Herro than any other team in the league because he could be viewed as a piece they need to take the next step in their journey toward a championship.

Tyler Herro's time in Miami is likely over, Giannis or not

If the Heat are able to go down the Giannis route, the Pistons are clearly emerging as one of the landing spots that makes the most sense for Herro. It's even gaining traction from the NBA media as a whole.

"The Pistons, I'm told, should be monitored as a potential third-team facilitator in a Giannis Antetokounmpo-to-Miami trade ... with Tyler Herro ultimately landing in Detroit."

From the Heat's perspective, Giannis or not, it does seem as if both Herro and the Heat are ready to move on from each other. Whether Herro ends up playing a key role in the Heat finally landing Giannis or not, it would be surprising if he were suiting up in Miami next season.

And, with the way things are shaping, the Pistons seem to be a good bet for where Herro could eventually land.
