Jaylen Brown could suddenly ruin everything for the Heat

Bring Giannis to Miami.

It's no secret that the Miami Heat want Giannis Antetokounmpo, and as Brian Windhorst said on ESPN's Get Up this morning, it's where the superstar supposedly wants to be, too. The senior reporter added that he hasn't heard much about the Celtics' interest in the 31-year-old, but if Boston was interested in parting with Jaylen Brown, that could be the offer Milwaukee accepts.

To be clear, Windhorst added he doesn't think the Celtics would part with Brown. It's something that has only gained traction because of Antetokounmpo's interest in going to Boston, as to make a trade work, they'd have to part with the 29-year-old. Because of that, there has been speculation about whether Brad Stevens would actually do it.

It doesn't seem like that's the case, or at least right now, it isn't.

The draft is rapidly approaching, and that's when Milwaukee co-owner Jimmy Haslam said he wants the Giannis saga resolved by. Not only does that "deadline" benefit the Bucks, as it will let them know how to approach the offseason, but it also helps the Heat. The less time for the Celtics to join the race, the better.

Heat better hope Celtics don't make Jaylen Brown available

Trading Brown might seem like too much of a short-sighted move for an organization like Boston to make. He didn't just keep the Celtics afloat this past season while Jayson Tatum rehabbed from his Achilles injury; he also guided them to a No. 2 finish in the East. It's not like he has been on a downfall since he helped Boston win the title in 2024, earning NBA Finals MVP in the process.

There is an allure with acquiring Antetokounmpo, though, that doesn't come with other stars. Yes, there are still reasons to think twice, like how he will turn 32 in December and has dealt with injuries the past few seasons. The Heat should have those same concerns, but at the end of the day, he's Giannis.

Boston could decide that to put itself in what it feels is a better position to win another championship with Tatum, trading Brown could be necessary. It'd help them match up better against New York, and if the time came, when going up against Victor Wembanyama.

It's easy to argue that the Celtics should stay away, as it could ruin an already good thing. And that could be why nothing public has come from Boston about Antetokounmpo.

Miami wants to keep it that way.
