It doesn't get any better than what the Miami Heat were able to pull off this offseason.

And their most recent move, the commitment from Klay Thompson to sign with the team, is likely going to be considered the final bookend of what could only be described as the perfect offseason for a Heat team that was desperate for something good.

Heading into the summer, the Heat were considered a has-been contender wandering in the abyss. However, not even the most optimistic Heat fans before the offseason could've anticipated what was about to transpire.

In a vacuum, the Heat's dream offseason went like this: Trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo, sign sixth man of the year candidate Tim Hardaway Jr., re-sign Andrew Wiggins to a discounted contract extension, and then add Thompson for cheap.

It's hard to envision the Heat having a better offseason

It was perfect. It's difficult to imagine how this summer could've gone any better for the Heat.

Sure, I do believe there will be some that pushback on the notion that the Heat have had a perfect summer because of their whiff on LeBron James. But that was always going to be an unexpected plus. That was never a goal for the Heat this offseason.

And, looking back, LeBron was never going to return to Miami. As much as Heat fans tried to will it to come to fruition, it just never made the most sense for how LeBron would close out his career.

Even without LeBron, there can be no argument about how the Heat offseason unraveled. They added a superstar, built out a respectable supporting cast around him in the first year, and are no longer meandering through irrelevance in the NBA.

The Heat's new reality is difficult to digest

All in all, the Heat have completely changed the fortune (and direction) of their franchise in the span of a few weeks. Considering how lost this franchise was just a couple of months ago, it's pretty amazing in retrospect.

If you told Heat fans before the summer that they'd be able to swap first-round picks, Tyler Herro, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis, Kel'el Ware, and Norman Powell for Giannis, Thompson, Bobby Portis, Hardaway Jr., and Ryan Conwell, they wouldn't believe you.

The fact that this is the new reality for the Heat is almost too good to believe. And that, more than anything, is why it's been a perfect summer for the Heat organization.
