The Miami Heat are officially on LeBron James watch. NBA Free Agency is just hours away, and a huge free agent just hit the open market.
Now that it has been reported that LeBron has informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he intends to sign with a different team this offseason, the Heat should be doing everything in their power to lure the Hall of Famer back down south.
Of course, that will be a lot easier said than done, especially considering the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers are very real (and appealing) options for LeBron. However, in a vacuum, there's an argument to be made that the Heat make a ton of sense for LeBron.
LeBron James should seriously consider signing with the Heat
If LeBron is seriously willing to take a pay cut at this point in his career, especially if it gives him a shot at winning another NBA Championship, the Heat should be near the top of his list. Miami can offer up to $11.5 million per year on a new deal for LeBron, and could possibly bump that offer up to close to $15 million if they find a taker for Nikola Jovic.
There was nothing percolating on LeBron front for Miami when the Heat opted not to create full mid-level money in recent days. They could create full $15.1 mid-level money, if LeBron somewhat surprisingly decides to leave the West and come here, by attaching a draft pick to Jovic… https://t.co/795kPrtoVH

Would that be enough for LeBron? Who knows. However, if LeBron were willing to consider it at this point in his career, the Heat does make sense. Next to what the Heat already has on their roster, LeBron would fit seamlessly.
LeBron would give Miami the playmaking and scoring they need next to Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bam Adebayo, while the Heat would give LeBron a real shot to compete for a championship this upcoming season.
For both sides, this is a move that would be completely understandable. Ultimately, this comes down to how LeBron wants to begin to wind down the storybook ending to his career.
LeBron James could be deciding between three teams
You'd imagine that the only places he would consider signing with this summer is Cleveland, Golden State, or Miami.
It's obvious why the Cavs would make sense. It would be the homecoming of all homecomings, and LeBron would be able to end his career where it all began. The Warriors would be an intriguing landing spot because of his relationship with Steph Curry and Draymond Green.
With the Warriors, LeBron would get one more shot to win a title with some of his closest NBA friends.
The Heat would be somewhat of the shocking move of the three possibilities, but the Heat have the horses to give LeBron a contender next season.
It's difficult to predict what LeBron will end up choosing, and it will ultimately come down to what his preferences are at this point. And, as has historically been the case, no one truly knows what LeBron is thinking. Other than him.
LeBron is a free agent once again, and the Heat could very much be a real option. Can they close on LeBron as they did back in 2010? It'd certainly be quite the story, especially after the move for Giannis.
